What Makes a Cabinet Truly Custom?

“Custom cabinets” is a phrase you’ll see frequently when researching cabinetry. But what does custom actually mean?

True custom cabinetry goes far beyond selecting a door style and paint color. It means cabinetry can be created specifically for the architecture, dimensions, function, and design vision of a particular space.

Walker Woodworking’s standard cabinetry uses ¾-inch plywood for cabinet sides, bottoms, adjustable shelves and backs, with maple interiors as a standard offering. Soft-close Blum drawer slides and hinges are also standard.

These details may not be the first things someone notices in a finished kitchen photograph.

But they’re an important part of how cabinetry performs.
