Behind The Scenes

WHAT IS CAD AND CNC?

Technology Paired With Craftsmanship.

Here at Walker Woodworking, we are passionate about producing the very best quality and being above the standard. Our CEO, Travis Walker, believes in pairing the power of technology with skilled craftsmanship, so he spends time researching the latest tools and techniques available to woodworking. His research led him to buy a new software program called CAD, short for “computer-aided design,” and a CNC machine. These additions have enabled us to be more effective in our design process and expand into more elaborate designs. Let’s break each down so you can better understand our process and how it benefits you.

What Is CAD?

Before this, designs were drawn by hand, and precise designs are the key to any quality project. Not only does it simplify the design process, but it also reduces waste, increases productivity, and minimizes troubleshooting.

Additionally, the use of CAD allows us to show our clients in real-time what their design will look like during a design meeting, and edit and modify the design with them so they can virtually see what they will receive. It makes the design phase more precise and allows clients to move forward confidently.

What Is CNC?

With the use of CAD, we could take another step and purchase a CNC wood router, which stands for computer numerical control. This piece of equipment allows us to transfer designs directly from the computer to the machine, which can cut, shape, and engrave the wood perfectly.

We can be faster and more precise in production and maintain our high standard of quality, which remains at the core of our business. This also means we can reproduce with accuracy, meaning that multiple cabinet pieces for a project are precisely the same, resulting in a beautiful project. Technology With Craftsmanship

Quality remains at the top of Travis’s list, which drives him to continually look for ways we can harness the power of technology so that we are cutting down on waste, increasing productivity, and remaining true to the meaning of the word “craftsmanship”. We desire to help create a space that is ideally suited for them and will allow them to continue doing what they love, completely unhindered. We have 20 years of experience helping our clients in more than ten counties and look forward to helping you achieve the kitchen you need.

At Walker Woodworking, our custom cabinetry craftsmen know that one of the most basic decisions about your kitchen cabinet is the material from which they are constructed. You certainly have several popular choices for this decision.

When doing a kitchen or bath remodel, one major decision you’ll have to make is whether to go with off-the-shelf cabinetry, custom cabinetry, or a combination of the two. While pre-made cabinets may cost less upfront, they offer limited flexibility in achieving your exact design and functionality goals.

If you plan to sell your house someday, overly ornate or personalized cabinetry that you love may repulse prospective buyers. The following are some time-tested cabinet styles that will still give you plenty of choice in crafting a kitchen you’ll love walking into every day.

Remodeling a residential space can be both thrilling and rewarding. It can also lead to various practical advantages. That’s because renovation projects can, in many situations, upgrade the values of associated homes.
