Cabinet Trends For 2021

Are you ready to update your home? Have you been scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration, maybe browsing the latest projects on HOUZZ? Having done hundreds of projects over the last two decades, we have seen multiple styles come and go. We know many of our clients wonder which styles, layouts, and elements should be included in their designs, which is why we like to share the latest cabinet trends in the cabinet world. As we explore some of the ones coming in 2021, we hope they will spark your inspiration and help you find the look you’ve been wanting for your home. Let’s talk about cabinets in 2021.

Open Up In 2021

Many homeowners do not just want to update their cabinets but also want to step away from the familiar by choosing a different look altogether. Trading out some upper cabinets for open shelving and floating shelves is gaining momentum in the design world. People enjoy the beauty and elegance it brings to a kitchen, plus the backsplash becomes more of an art piece since it is more visible. Glass panel doors are also present in multiple designs, offering a break from traditional closed cabinets and adding visual interest to the design. This always creates a beautiful effect in any room and works well for displaying items you treasure, such as that heirloom dish from your grandmother.

Wood In 2021

Walnut is a wood gaining in popularity, and this trend will continue into the new year. It has a beauty all its own and is considered a versatile wood, well-suited to a range of styles and purposes. Walnut makes a statement when used for a kitchen island, floating shelves, and even interior cabinet finishes. Of course, it is also beautiful as a complete set of cabinets. The warmth of its wood also means it makes a great complement to multiple color schemes. If you are looking for an elegant wood, walnut is an excellent choice.

Shaking It Up In 2021

Shaker cabinets remain among the most popular cabinet styles for their timeless appeal and elegant look. They work well with most wood types and color choices. It is also an excellent choice for various areas in the home, including the kitchen and bathroom. Shaker cabinets are also a great choice because they are so versatile and complement a wide range of design styles, from farmhouse to modern. Shaker cabinets are the way to go.

Painting In 2021

Painted cabinets remain a popular choice and may even surpass traditional wood cabinets. This does not mean that the natural wood look is going away anytime soon, but painted cabinets are a great choice on their own or paired with natural wood. Light colors continue to trend, and two-toned kitchens remain popular. White and black kitchens are an up-and-coming trend that are often paired with gold accents, such as hardware, making a beautiful statement.  White and warm-gray cabinets are also timeless options that can be matched with any design style and contrast beautifully with darker or bolder hardware choices.

Storage In 2021

2020 became the year of staying close to home, and with more time spent around the house, some things became evident, including the need for storage and organization. As we head into the new year, more focus will be given to the need for storage. Pull-outs, roll-outs, and spice racks will be included in kitchens. Bathrooms will have adequate drawer space, deep enough to hide all those hygiene tools, too. Home offices are also a top priority now that many work from home. Having a dedicated space means you can be more productive and more focused on the task at hand. Pantries, mudrooms, and built-ins should be considered when considering a renovation in 2021.

We admit it: HGTV’s popular shows like Fixer Upper, Love It or List It, and Property Brothers always give us a significant renovation. A dreary, dated house is suddenly transformed into an amazing, contemporary home all within a neat, one-hour timeline. Here, we share some of the top unrealistic expectations presented in the home remodeling reality TV world and how they can lead to severe disappointments in the real world of renovation.

In the event you’ve never heard of cabinet refacing before, you may want to know what’s involved. The box and frame of your existing cabinetry are kept, and the cabinet doors and the fronts of any drawers are replaced.

While bold colors took a step back for a few decades, they have been making a solid comeback as homeowners rediscover the vibrancy and pop they bring to a space, allowing them to express their personalities at the same time.

While the actual design and craftsmanship of building cabinets rightfully take most of our time when starting a project, we realize that the colors of the final product will also be important to you.
