RECLAIMED WOOD AND BRASS HARDWARE

White is a timeless color choice for kitchen cabinets; it is clean and bright, making the space welcoming. White by itself can make the kitchen feel a bit bland, but it is the perfect complement to almost any color or material. A popular combination is natural wood because it adds a touch of warmth and beautiful contrast, like brass hardware, just as it did for this client’s kitchen. Several unique features were designed for this homeowner to seamlessly blend with their lifestyle and showcase their personal style.

Brass Hardware

Hardware is an important element in cabinetry because it not only adds the finishing touch to the design but also brings functionality to the cabinets, plus protects them from the oils in our hands, extending their life. Many shapes and styles are available in multiple materials, such as nickel and silver, but brass has become a popular choice in recent years. It has a vintage charm to it, which makes it the perfect complement to the reclaimed wood in this kitchen, and it is tied so elegantly with the white cabinets. This provided a unified look to the design and a nice contrast for the white cabinets. Brass is a versatile, durable material that will guarantee you many years of service for your cabinets. The homeowner combines brass cup pulls, knobs, and long handles to give themselves the best functionality in their kitchen. The cup pulls make it easy to open drawers while cooking in the kitchen, which is an important factor to consider when selecting. The extended length of the brass pulls distributed the weight evenly when opening the refrigerator. Brass knobs were perfect for the cabinet doors, even with two fingers. Mixing and matching the shapes of your hardware allows you to customize it according to the specific needs of each cabinet, giving you optimal functionality. We agree with their choice and love the final results.

Wine and Wet Bar

Beverage centers are trending; they are functional spaces within the home because they allow you to have everything in one, accessible area. They are perfect for family gatherings or small parties, inviting people to gather and talk. Our client wanted to create two beverage stations across from each other. One had a wine cooler, and the other a dazzling sink that made it easy to rinse glasses and cups after use. There is also ample storage in these beverage cabinets, and the upper glass front cabinets make it simple to know what is available to pour without pulling everything out. Wine and additional glasses can also be stored inside, and paper products like napkins can be tucked inside the lower cabinets. The homeowner loved this feature as it allows them to keep everything separate in these two spaces.

Unique Project Features

There were several other wonderful features that we were able to do in this project that allow the homeowner to have a space that is unique to them and their specific needs. Some of them included:

  • Push latches are built into the kitchen island cabinets by the bar stools. This gives the client additional storage that is needed, but in a way that does not compromise the clean design look.
  • The spice shelf is tucked beside the oven, which means easy access when cooking and less going back and forth with hands that might be wet or covered in food. The homeowner also has a stash of paper towels just in case of any surprise spills.
  • A U-shaped drawer under the kitchen sink was one of the client’s requests, as this gives maximum storage capacity under the sink. It is the perfect place to store low items like serving platters or trays.
  • Utensil and silverware divider trays are a simple way to keep everything organized and neatly in place.
  • Trash can pull out by the sink, meaning no walking across the room with dripping food packages or garbage of any kind. The double trash pull-out is conveniently located where you do most of your prep work for cooking.
  • The pantry service coffee area is one of the homeowners’ favorite aspects of their new kitchen space; everything they need is located in one area and can be neatly stored away when not in use.

A custom kitchen means you get exactly what you need and can focus on what really matters to you—the things that will make your life easier because it is built with you in mind. Reclaimed Wood and Brass Hardware

We are delighted with the final outcome of this project, and so is the homeowner, who has a background in furniture and interior design. Here is what they had to say about why they trusted Walker Woodworking to design and build their custom cabinets.

Kitchen style. Throughout the years, the kitchen has been the heart of the home, the place where delicious meals were cooked and served with love. It has also remained a place where memories are made, achievements are celebrated, and it invokes a warm, inviting atmosphere. One thing has changed, and that is my style.

Inset cabinets, because the doors are inside the frame, look like elegant furniture pieces, giving the space a luxurious feel. If you are looking for cabinets that will stand the test of time, inset cabinets are for you.

The kitchen island offers more than just a workspace when cooking dinner. It provides additional storage and even seating. An island is a versatile element in the kitchen that can adapt to almost any size, allowing you to maximize the use of your square footage.

Closets are usually a key selling point in any home, making a custom closet a valuable addition since buyers are looking for functional spaces in the house. Custom closets are not just a great space in your home, but are also an investment if you ever choose to sell.

Countertops are essential to any bathroom or kitchen design and deliver several great benefits to the homeowner. They have evolved to become more than just a work surface.
