HOME OFFICE – THE NEW MUST-HAVE

The home office has become more than a place to pay bills or write a grocery list. As more and more people work from home, having a dedicated space is essential because it allows you to separate work from home. By definition, the purpose of an office is to create a supportive environment for the occupant to perform their job. Having a space set aside just for work, whether professional or personal, allows creativity and energy to flow unhindered. Many designers believe a home office is becoming one of a home’s must-have features. There is evidence that having a home office can make a home more attractive to potential buyers. Here we share a few things we believe are essential to creating an office that will help make it easier to meet those deadlines and check off that to-do list.

Worksurface

Having a defined workspace can encourage productivity because it allows us to focus on the task. It can also help limit the distractions that vie for our time regularly. Knowing there is a dedicated, functional space can also help remove the drag of work. Ultimately, time is saved when all the tools needed to accomplish the assignment are in one location. When we want to bake, it helps to have all the ingredients on hand instead of running around the kitchen looking for one thing or another. The same goes for a home office; a well-defined workspace will keep you on track to check off the next thing on your list.

Charging Station

Today, more than ever, we depend on our phones, as is evident when we realize we are almost out of power and no charger is in sight. Chargers can be an eyesore, though they are a needful piece of equipment. Creating a designated space that is custom-built into the desk or tucked away neatly nearby eliminates the clutter while enabling you to stay connected. Creating a functional space does not mean beauty needs to be compromised. We have helped many clients find creative ways to incorporate a charging station in their home office while maintaining their design aesthetic.

Sufficient Storage

The only thing better than a dedicated workspace is an organized workspace. Clutter is easy to accumulate and can quickly quench the fires of productivity. We all have had those moments when we can’t find that one document we need or a bill that went unpaid because it was lost under all the other papers strewn over the desk. By having designated spaces for paperwork, tools, and supplies, efficiency will be maximized, and your time will be saved. At Walker Woodworking, we love helping our clients create storage solutions that solve problems and erase the clutter.

Make It Yours!

Each of us has a unique way of doing things, a method for storing items or filing important papers. It is essential to have a home office that reflects your style. Carving out a dedicated office space tailored to your specific needs can foster a productive, inviting environment. Motivation is a powerful tool, and the atmosphere can greatly motivate us to move forward. Having a space we want to go to can almost guarantee more will get done with less struggle. Coffee is a staple ingredient in the mornings for most people. We love the freshly brewed scent as we begin our day and rely on the boost it gives us to get the last of the sand out of our eyes and add a little bounce to our step.

While the kitchen may be the heart of the home, the bathroom is a place of relaxation—and the bathroom cabinet plays a key role in creating that peaceful retreat.

New materials are being paired together to create something unique and wonderful. One of these new combinations is metal and wood, specifically metal cabinet doors. While not the typical choice for kitchen cabinet design, this choice adds a new dimension to the overall look and feel of the kitchen.

Cabinet design encompasses many elements to create the perfect kitchen, including the cabinet door style, which offers choices such as inset, overlay, or even completely custom.

More and more homeowners are interested in using eco-friendly products and materials and designing their homes to minimize their environmental impact. This has led to a rise in zero waste kitchen concepts, with designers looking to meet their clients’ requests in a way that delivers a functional, environmentally friendly, yet stylish kitchen.
