The CMA (Cabinet Makers Association) announced its 2020 Wood Diamond award winners on Thursday, August 27, during a virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony usually takes place at the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) or the AWFS Fair on even years, but IWF 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19. Winners are chosen by their peers in the organization; each year, the judging panel is made up of CMA members who are not submitting their work for the competition.
This particular Master Suite was a unique design, collaborated with Interior Designer Deborah Rosetti with Bella Rosetti’s Home Interiors. Cabinets are custom built by Walker Woodworking. It is an honor to be featured on the cover of Woodshop News, a magazine dedicated to “Shaping the successful shop”. Several of our projects are showcased as well as our shop located in Shelby, NC, where we still build everything ourselves.

Sometimes we have the opportunity to be a part of something extra special like this project. A couple lost their newly renovated home to an electrical fire and had to rebuild once more. Working with their interior designer Bridget Gasque with Loftus Design and contractor Casa Forte Builders along with Greenbrook designer Tracy Collins they rebuilt their dream home. Houzz is a place to browse and save beautiful home photos. Here people can save photos that inspire them or shows exactly what they were looking for in their upcoming project. Houzz decided to compiled a list of the most-saved kitchen photos that were uploaded to their website since April 1, 2019. We are excited to say that we made the list of the ten most popular kitchens!
Cabinets in this beautiful bramble home are craft fully made by Dura Supreme and the custom kitchen island by Walker Woodworking Custom Cabinets. You can shop for furniture and artwork while browsing too!Cheval is located in Mint hill, NC 4 homes will be presented in the tour, which is one of the most celebrated home tours in the Southeast.The “The Welsh House” constructed by New Old Construction features 5 Bedroom – 5 1/2 Bath, 4, 879 sq. ft home with the charm of an English Countryside equestrian setting.Walker Woodworking Custom Cabinetry can be seen throughout the home, in the kitchen, his & hers dressing rooms, the family command center, media center and more.His & Hers dressing room has unique built ins for organizing accessories and clothes. Her side also has a “docking drawer” to store and charge phones and tablets. The family command center is the central location for laundry, dog bed, feeding station and craft room all in one! This room is blended with painted custom cabinetry as well as reclaimed lumber to add a distinct feature in the laundry room.The home has a build method of Inset cabinetry. The inset door gets its name because it is set inside of the cabinet frame, typical cabinet doors rest on the outside of the frame. The door is designed and constructed with extremely precise measurements so that it nests inside the frame and opens and closes properly.The media room displays cherry counter-tops along side of the charcoal painted cabinetry and the office bath has a cozy feel with rustic alder cabinetry that has a blackwash rub through.
Walker Woodworking is proud to be involved in the remodeling of the Newgrass Brewing Company soon to open in Shelby.Reclaimed wood from Dover Mill – an old textile mill that once stood in Shelby, NC is now being milled for the new floors at the Newgrass Brewing Company.Dover Mill was the workplace of many people in Shelby, NC including the grandmother, and father of Travis Walker. There is a piece of history in every board from the mill, as there will be new history made at the Newgrass Brewing Co. The reclaimed wood from the floors of Dover Mill are now being milled into the NEW floors for Newgrass Brewing Co. in Shelby, NC. The original piece of wood was 3 1/2 in thick and 8 1/2 in wide. Each Dover piece now makes 5 pieces for the floors at Newgrass.

The original floor boards are 3 1/2 inches thick by 8 1/2 inches wide.
AT the Walker Woodworking Shop, they are getting prepared to be milled.
Now made into 3 inch boards, these will soon be walked on at the Newgrass Brewing Company – Shelby, NC.
While machining the reclaimed lumber from Dover Mill, our metal detector found this in one of the beams. Some guys in the shop say it’s a 36 caliber musket ball from around the early 1800’s. It’s before they started putting tin in with the lead.

Colorful Elegance
