From a hobby to Big Dreams
Travis Walker began his journey to what has become Walker Woodworking soon after he married his wife, Stacey. After he completed college, Travis worked as a paramedic on 24 hour shifts, this gave him time on his days off to pursue other interest.
Travis began woodworking as a hobby in a small garage, with limited tools, behind Stacey’s grandmother’s home. He worked long hours learning how to build cabinets on his own. The first nail he shot with a nail gun went through his thumb.
His very first inspiration was an old oak tree planted by his grandfather. Rather than burn the tree for firewood he wanted to craft a furniture piece as a remembrance of not only the tree but the family land it had grown on. Travis built a crib for his first born daughter and a china hutch, both are treasured pieces.
