As a standard, all of our cabinets are built with applied end panels on any fully exposed side. These are made to match whatever door style and color you choose for that particular cabinet.

Your cabinet door style can be on of the most important factors in your kitchen’s new design. Cabinet doors on of the most visible design elements in a kitchen. From elaborate to simple there is a door style for every home. Take a look at some of the better-known styles that we offer here at Walker Woodworking.
Let’s begin with the basic elements. Cabinetry is divided into three major categories when considering methods.
1. Inset: The INSET Difference
The inset door gets its name because it is set inside of the cabinet frame, typical cabinet doors rest on the outside of the frame. The door is designed and constructed with extremely precise measurements so that it nests inside the frame and opens and closes properly.
2. Frameless: The advantage of FRAMELESS
A frameless cabinet is a style of cabinet that has been popular in Europe for decades, but that wasn’t introduced here in the states until rather recently. Doors typically cover the entire cavity and box, which is called a full-overlay. Because they don’t require a frame, frameless cabinets feature full access, allowing maximum use of space. Cabinets and drawers are slightly larger than those constructed with face frames. Frameless cabinets have a more modern look. If you are purchasing new cabinetry for your home, you owe it to yourself to look into the benefits of frameless cabinetry.
3. Standard: Traditionally was the most used on the market
The standard overlay cabinet is typically the most popular. The face frame of a standard cabinet door overlays 1/2″ with approximately a 1-inch gap between doors and drawers. We very rarely use this build method today at Walker Woodworking.

Choose from the following selection of quality woods to create a look that suits your own style and preferences. Rustic grade is available for all of these.
Cherry is an elegant, multi-colored hardwood. In its raw state, it has a pinkish-brown hue with occasional shades of white, green, pink or gray. Cherry is excellent for traditional and formal décor.
Alder is a preferred wood for furniture. Ranking second only to oak as the most commonly used wood, alder offers the look of many fine hardwoods at a value price.
Maple has a tight, smooth, even grain that is predominantly off-white, making it popular for contemporary décor.
Mahagony ranges from tan to reddish-brown in color and may display stripe, ribbon, rope, ripple, or blister figures. Its stability and resistance to decay makes this wood ideal for high-quality cabinetry and furniture.
Sapele is a reddish-brown wood that is very popular as a decorative surface veneer for high-grade furniture such as book cases and cabinets.
Teak is a tropical hardwood and is particularly valued for its durability and water resistance. It is most often used for outdoor cabinetry.
Oak has a prominent open grain with colors from white to yellow to reddish-brown. Oak is great for casual or country décor.
Options for counter top materials have greatly increased over the last several years, allowing you to put your personal signature on the crowning touch to your kitchen or bathroom. Your counter top should enhance the visual statement of your kitchen while being durable enough to survive its everyday use. Selecting the right material is vital to the appearance and functionality of your kitchen.
While we do not install most counter tops, we do offer a limited amount of options available for wood tops.
Our clients often have many questions about which products are the best to use. Here is a list and brief description of some of the most popular counter top materials:
Marble is a popular natural stone used in kitchen and bathrooms still today. It is most known for its beautiful elegant appearance but is the most difficult to maintain. We highly recommend extensive research into the pros and cons of using marble before making your purchase.
Quartz is the fourth hardest material known to man, making it ideal for counter top surfaces that are durable and sanitary. Unlike granite, the non-porous surface won’t support the growth of mold or mildew, and quartz surfaces never require sealing, making clean-up a breeze.
Granite counter tops allow you to create a one-of-a-kind elegant surface for your kitchen or bathroom. Granite offers almost unlimited choice in colors and patterns, making it easy to find the right choice to complement your decor. Granite counter tops are very hard, making them resistant to heat and extremely scratch and dent resistant. A liquid silicone sealant is applied at installation to seal pores and facilitate clean-up.
Tiles are an easy way to give color to your kitchen and are not extremely expensive. They are highly durable, heat and scratch resistant and long lasting. The unlimited color, size, texture and pattern selection created with tiles offers complete design freedom.
There are many resources available to help you research and choose the best surface to meet your needs.
